Vignettes of several dysfunctional people all
linked together through the lives of three diametric sisters. One sister is a
very successful novelist. The other is a housewife, whose husband hides an
extremely dark secret about himself, and the third is a 30-something loser, who
still has no clue as to what she wants to do with her life. Their parents are
also part of the package, as the film serpentines its way through the troubles,
perversions and sexual dichotomy of many of its happily-challenged subjects.

"Pursuit of Success" is a little romantic comedy about a good hearted but
socially inept and very average guy (Whaley) who's looking for love in all the
wrong places only to find it under his nose. The end is a foregone conclusion
and the plot is an old one; a knock-off of Ella Wheeler Wilcox's classic poem
"Love's Coming". However, there is fun and enjoyment to be found in the story
which is all about a group of young adults, their jobs, relationships, and
pursuits of Success with Whaley and Gish at the forefront as hapless romantics
and "blood brothers" on a collision course with destiny. No blockbuster,
"Pursuit..." eeks out marginal success with some fresh ideas and an easy buy-in
owing to the averageness of the characters.

Chow Yun-Fat gives one of his best comedic performances as a womanizer who
pretends to be extremely effeminate to get the women he wants. As he splits his
time between over a dozen different women, his younger brother falls
head-over-heels in love with a girl he meets at the park. Meanwhile their older
brother, a TV host, finds himself attracted to a beautiful opera singer who
appears on his show. The three brothers go from one wacky situation to another
trying to woo the loves of their lives.
